We are looking for an experienced multi-line underwriter to lead and grow one of our newest specialty package programs, Franchised Equipment Dealers. You will be part of a dynamic organization that is seeking to scale our Company creatively and robustly, while rewarding individual contributions and encouraging team collaboration.  You will be responsible for independently assessing & underwriting complex risk, managing carrier and broker relationships, and working in partnership with our sales team to help Tangram build a book of business that will achieve growth and profitability over the long term.

 

Responsibilities

  • Performs day-to-day underwriting functions at an advanced, experienced level
  • Uses experience to underwrite and skillfully negotiate complex customer accounts to minimize risk and maximize profitability.
  • Underwrites General Liability, Property, Inland Marine, Auto, Workers Compensation and Excess
  • Executes rate strategy on renewal book
  • Recommends creative alternatives regarding rating, coverage, etc. to advocate for good risks
  • Engages underwriting assistants to perform support and administrative tasks as outlined in workflow documents
  • Executes and rolls out program strategy to team
  • Encourages and maintains constant connection among all functional areas – leadership, sales and operations
  • Maintains underwriting files in accordance with Tangram policies and procedures
  • Executes soft audits
  • Orders and reviews inspections to confirm accounts written are consistent with preliminary underwriting information and acts when the inspection reveals unacceptable risk characteristics.
  • Assists others in resolving problems with regards to program objectives
  • Ensures adherence to underwriting standards, objectives and guidelines of program
  • Implements changes and/or updates to written program guidelines
  • Helps organize and review files during applicable audits by carrier partners
  • Develops and maintains effective business relationships with agents and carriers to attract, develop and retain profitable business for assigned book of business
  • Participates with senior management on product development, processes, and underwriting strategies
  • Sends referrals to carrier as outlined by SVP of Underwriting
  • Understands all programs and products at Tangram to be an effective advocate with agency community
  • Actively manages program to reach production goals
  • Special Projects as assign

 

Program Specialization

This person will be the lead underwriter on an emerging program in the Franchised Equipment Dealer space.  The individual must have working knowledge and experience in the dealer segment (auto or equipment).  Tangram has a proprietary and specific solution for this industry and provides an all-lines solution to these clients.

  • Multi-line coverage offered (i.e., property, GL, auto, inland marine, workers compensation and excess)
  • High degree of front-line underwriting authority
  • Types of risks contemplated (not limited to): Construction, Agricultural, Forestry, and Warehouse Equipment, Forklifts, Lift Trucks, Rack, Shelving & Storage Equipment, etc.
  • Program operational with current in-force premium and new business pipeline
  • Sales support to find new sources of business

 

Skills & Experience 

  • 5-8 years of progressive underwriting experience with strong background in commercial property, inland marine and casualty with specific expertise in dealership programs (auto or franchise preferred)
  • Multi-line P&C background to include Commercial Property, Auto, Dealers Open Lot, General Liability and Inland Marine
  • Strong communicator and works collaboratively in a team
  • Ability to foster carrier and broker relationships
  • Positive attitude towards customer service and relationship management
  • Effective analytical and logical reasoning abilities
  • Good attention to detail
  • Organizational skills and ability to problem solve and multi-task
  • Strong personal initiative, ability to work independently with time management skills
  • Solid computer skills and adaptation to new technologies and workflows

 

COMPENSATION:

The salary range for this position is $100,000 to $140,000,
