Duties and Responsibilities
• Responsible for daily direction and supervision of the Collections, Payments, Refunds and Patient Accounts departments and other departments as assigned
• Optimize revenue cycle management processing systems to improve efficiency and accuracy of both billing and collections efforts while continuing to function with-in organization budgets
• Responsible for developing and monitoring departmental budgets and striving to reduce cost per claim.
• May lead Cross-Departmental teams to improve organizational collections process and represent the organization in meetings with clients to discuss RCM performance.
• Investigate and analyze issues, root causes, patterns, or trends and identify and implement process improvement actions in support of revenue cycle objectives.
• Maintains functional accountability for the insurance claim function which includes: monitoring the status of claims & denials management
• Collaborates with the corporate team to establish and drive improvement in departmental and organizational key performance indicators (KPIs) such as DSO’s, Collection Percentage, Cost To Collect and dashboards around revenue cycle operations
• Fosters a culture of continuous learning and professional development by mentoring staff, identifying growth opportunities and implementing training programs that enhance team capabilities and drive revenue cycle performance.
• Create and continue to refine a holistic strategy for all payer reimbursement activities including: accounts receivable, denials management and payment posting.
• Collaborates with other departments, assembles and analyzes daily, weekly and monthly reports to assure proper performance, staffing and workflow.
• Develop an RCM strategy to respond to current and future challenges presented by legislation and compliance in order to monitor and address changing revenue cycle practices
• Responsible for completing the annual conflict of interest survey, ensure direct reports complete annual compliance surveys and provide coaching and feedback on performance related to compliance education and ongoing phishing simulation programs.
• Perform other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
• 4 or more years of revenue cycle operations experience including access, financial counseling, coding and billing
• 2 or more years of analytical experience in the healthcare industry
• Google & MS Suite products experience
• Ability to analyze and interpret financial reports, government regulations and procedure manuals; as well as disseminate amongst staff/ team members to ensure a clear interpretation is distributed.
• Strong negotiation and persuasion skills
Preferred Qualifications
• Masters Degree or equivalent experience
• Infusion Experience
• A documented track record of implementing and accomplishing customer service improvements in a large complex health care organization or system
• A proven track record of results and working with process management
