Mission of Role/Position Summary

Our mission is to provide compassionate consulting services to local, state, federal and industry clients, active in disaster response, recovery, and preparedness. We will be on time, on target, and on budget with the services aligned to the evolving threats and hazards facing our nation.

The Technical Advisor, Engineering for Hazard Mitigation and Disaster Recovery is responsible for designing and implementing strategies to reduce the impact of natural and man-made disasters on communities and infrastructure. This includes identifying potential hazards, assessing vulnerabilities, and developing plans to mitigate risks. Additionally, this position plays a crucial role in post-disaster recovery efforts, coordinating the restoration of essential services and infrastructure. The position will be guided in all activities by ACDC’s Corporate Values Platform.

Tasks, Duties, and Responsibilities

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement hazard mitigation and disaster recovery plans for various projects, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
• Conduct thorough hazard assessments to identify potential risks and vulnerabilities in infrastructure and communities, providing valuable insights for proactive mitigation strategies.
• Design and recommend structural improvements to mitigate risks posed by natural and man-made disasters, considering factors such as seismic activity, flooding, extreme weather events, and more.
• Coordinate emergency response efforts, acting as a key liaison between relevant stakeholders, local authorities, and government agencies to ensure effective communication and swift action during crises.
• Manage and oversee the execution of disaster recovery projects, monitoring progress, assessing challenges, and adapting strategies as needed to ensure successful outcomes.
• Assist in the preparation of grant applications and funding proposals for hazard mitigation and recovery projects, demonstrating a strong understanding of public assistance programs and their requirements.
• Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices related to hazard mitigation, disaster recovery, and emergency management, applying this knowledge to enhance project methodologies.
• Contribute to the development of educational materials and training programs aimed at increasing community awareness and preparedness for disasters.
• Serve in a response capacity in a state or local Emergency Operations Center as needed.
• When requested, provide response and recovery related training to state and local government clients.
