The DuPont Yerkes manufacturing site is seeking a motivated professional Environmental Engineer for its multi-business facility located in Buffalo, NY,
The successful candidate will be primarily responsible for satisfying the Site’s environmental compliance obligations and identifying & driving continuous improvement. In addition, the Environmental Engineer is responsible for providing active leadership and program development and implementation for environmental systems at the Yerkes site.
Your Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as the technical expert on all matters relating to the site’s air pollution control, ISO 14001 infrastructure, RMP, associated regulatory compliance programs, and emissions.
- Prepare Title V air permit applications including renewals and modifications.
- Develop air dispersion modeling using regulator-approved modeling programs.
- Verify accuracy of emission calculations and estimates for routine emissions as well as maintenance, startup, and shutdown emissions.
- Serve as the program manager for site LDAR program, including all aspects of monitoring, maintaining, and reporting on all aspects of the program.
- Ensure timely preparation and submission of all required reporting to state and federal agencies.
- Develop and provide technical guidance and best practices to various departments regarding their responsibilities to the air compliance program.
- Interpret local, state, and federal air regulations then develop and implement air compliance programs, inspections, and guidance documents to ensure site compliance.
- Maintain a strong, broad, current working knowledge of appropriate federal (EPA) and New York (DEC) regulations and corporate EHS standards.
- Maintain NYSDEC CBS / PBS program requirements, permits, and audits.
- Serve as a RCRA waste coordinator, maintain 90-day storage area, profile wastes, and ensure compliance with requirements.
- Maintain SPDES and SPCC programs, sampling, and reporting.
- Participate in company and local Environmental networks.
- Collaborate with Engineering and Operations during the design and installation phase of facilities to ensure compliance with environmental regulations.
- Build effective relationships with regulatory bodies, laboratories, and service providers for regulatory compliance program.
- Works with W&P/M&M environmental resources to implement and maintain policies and procedures to comply with health and environmental laws, regulations, and standards.
- Host regulatory site visits and inspections.
- Drive incident investigations to identify root cause and corrective/preventive actions.
- Conduct internal 1st Party Audits and Field Environmental, ISO 14001, and RMP Assessments to ensure compliance with DuPont Standards and Federal, State and Local regulations.
- Direct and participate in second, and third-Party Environmental audits, as necessary.
- Develop and deliver professional meeting presentations to stakeholders including regulators and other officials.
- Be a visual presence on the production floor and provide counsel, advice, and support to other functions on all environmental related matters.
- Assess, analyze, and collate environmental performance data and reporting information to internal staff, regulatory bodies and other third parties (e.g., Responsible Care, ISO14001).
