Job Summary

The Emergency Medical Technician or advanced emergency medical technician is fully responsible for all actions as a certified Emergency Medical Technician and is accountable for the quality of emergency medical care delivered.

Duties and Responsibilities

To provide basic pre-hospital emergency care to the sick and injured, and to transport emergency and non-emergency patients safely and efficiently to area medical facilities.  The Emergency Medical Technician works closely with the Paramedic in providing effective and efficient patient care in accordance with established protocols.

Minimum Requirements

• The Emergency Medical Technician or advanced emergency medical technician must have completed an approved course of study and be certified by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. 
• The incumbent must possess current certification/recognition in BLS-CPR as is recognized by the current regulations of the EMS Act and demonstrate competence in the provision of skills with a commitment to continuing professional development. 
• The incumbent must have also completed and approved Emergency Vehicle Driver’s Training (EVDT) course. 
• The incumbent must also hold a valid driver’s license in good standing.
