As a temporary Biological Science Assistant (Chum Salmon Surveyor) at the Big Creek Research Center in Astoria, Oregon, you will:
Install, operate, and remove fish traps, which may include rotary screw traps, box traps and other juvenile fish traps. Follow all safety protocols and checklists associated with rotary screw traps. Follow all landowner instructions associated with trap access on private land.
Safely handle and identify all captured fish and collect appropriate data. This may include: size, sex, fin clips, and applying or identifying tags. Record data both manually and electronically.
Operate remote site incubators (RSI) and ensure proper flows and clean filters. Troubleshoot and repair
