Summary
With effective supervision, performs semi-skilled work and assists mechanics in the overall maintenance and repair of automotive, construction and aerial equipment.

What You'll Do
- Performs preventive maintenance functions, as scheduled on automotive, construction and aerial equipment.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed.
- Safe operation and knowledge of the proper use of cranes, hoists, jacks, stands, power tools and other tools.
- Assists mechanics in the performance of their duties.
- Move various types of equipment to or from various locations for maintenance purposes.
- Washes vehicles, steam cleans engine and chassis, washes parts, cleans tools, cleans maintenance facilities.
- Repair and balance various sizes of tires.
- Performs all inspections necessary to meet SRP, State for Federal requirements.
- Training of peers.
- Is responsible for inspections, adjustments and maintenance of assigned shop equipment and tools.
- Assists other employees doing related work. Provides coverage to maintain operational requirements due to vacation, sick leave or as workloads vary.
- Performs minor maintenance tasks as required to meet operational requirements.
- Depending on workload, employees in this job classification may be required to perform duties of other job classifications of equal or lesser pay for which they are qualified within Transportation Services.
- Effectively operates computerized equipment, e.g. wheel balancers, diagnostic equipment, desktop computers and associated SRP operating systems, e.g. FMS, MATS, etc.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Employee must work safely and efficiently in the performance of their job duties. Must maintain effective working relationships with other employees, customers and the public. Must have the ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions, and have the ability to accurately and legibly complete applicable paper work. May be required to work a reasonable amount of overtime.
What It Takes To Succeed
Must be able to acquire a Commercial Driver's License with a Tanker and Haz-Mat endorsements within 90 days of start date.
