Position Specific Description
In this role, you will report to the Regulatory Corporate Accounting Senior Manager and focus mainly on Corporate Accounting related activities for Florida Power & Light (FPL) and its subsidiary entities, including support of monthly closes, reporting (management, GAAP, and regulatory), audits (regulatory and SEC), and rate cases. This position will also have opportunities for involvement in the team’s process improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop a solid understanding of regulatory accounting and the CFR (Code of Federal Regulations) rules over electric utilities. Keep abreast of and apply GAAP, SEC, and regulatory requirements and company-specific policies, practices, and procedures.
- Approve monthly journal entries related to the regulated entities (primarily Florida Power & Light and subsidiaries) prepared by team members.
- Approve account reconciliations for assigned accounts prepared by team members, while also assisting with the migration of many account reconciliations to an outsourced provider.
- Prepare various reports related to the Company’s regulated operations including coordination with personnel in other departments who are providing explanations.
- Proactive customer focus that identifies problems quickly, applies thorough analysis, and delivers accurate solutions to achieve high customer satisfaction.
- Pursue continuous improvements of team’s processes, combining business acumen with process improvement techniques to achieve better work processes and efficiencies across the team.
- Research accounting guidance, as needed, to determine appropriate accounting treatment and communicate thoughts effectively to others
- Directs, mentors and coaches other team members in their technical and interpersonal skill development
- Ability to work extended hours when necessary (during close periods, significant/unusual transactions, etc.).
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

- Intermediate to advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
- Intermediate knowledge over NEE’s Master Data processes to enable assistance of the business units with the creation or mapping of master data, as needed.

• Bachelor's - Accounting / Finance / Business
• Experience: 6+ years

• Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
