JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Laboratory of Dr. Misha Kwasniewski in the College of Agricultural Sciences, Department of Food Science at Penn State (University Park campus) is seeking a temporary, part-time research assistant/associate to support ongoing lab and field research projects related to fermentation sciences, wine chemistry and grape development.  

Duties will include: 

• Assist with sample preparation and extraction.
• Operate Lab equipment such as a spectrophotometer, HPLC and GC-MS
• Enter data using Excel or other programs.
• Work with graduate students and other lab members on ongoing projects as needed.

Skills: 

• Basic familiarity with chemistry and lab practices
• Strong organizational and communication skills
• Aptitude and interest in learning new methodology

This job requires some progress toward a B.S. in a STEM related field such as food science or Chemistry.
