About the role

The Hospitality and Tourism Management (HTM) Program is seeking a Student Events Coordinator to serve as a work study liaison between the HTM Program and the Flagler College Special Events Department. The Student Events Coordinator will collaborate with and facilitate Flagler College and HTM events, working as a student representative for the HTM program while coordinating efforts between the HTM program and the Events team for students enrolled in the HTM program working various events. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Serve as liaison between the HTM Program and Flagler College Special Events Department
  • Work various special events including conferences, networking events (Business Week, Grateful Cabaret, Spanish Food and Wine Festival), and other events as assigned
  • Coordinate efforts between HTM program faculty and students and the Special Events team
  • Attend planning meetings for assigned events to facilitate coordination on behalf of the HTM Program and Special Events team
  • Complete administrative duties as assigned by the HTM Program Director and Flagler College Senior Director of Special Events
  • Work up to 20 hours per week, including some weekend hours as required
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Currently enrolled student at Flagler College
  • Minimum GPA of 2.5
  • Eligibility for Federal Work Study program
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with multiple departments and student groups
  • Reliable and professional demeanor

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Enrolled in the Hospitality and Tourism Management (HTM) program
  • Senior standing within the HTM program
  • Previous event work experience
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: 
  • Events are typically held on campus
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods during events
  • Must be able to lift and carry materials weighing 25-40 pounds
  • Flexible schedule required, including availability for some weekend events
  • Work environment may vary depending on event type and location
