Role Overview 

 

The Director of Business Management is a dynamic, strategic leader responsible for driving revenue growth and profitability through the execution of key initiatives that deliver value to fans and partners.  This role requires a unique balance of high-level strategy and hands-on execution within a highly matrixed organization.  The ideal candidate has a strong track record of leading cross-functional teams, managing complex relationships and delivering against ambitious financial and operational goals.

  • League Strategy & Vision: Define and evolve the strategic vision for assigned leagues by leveraging consumer insights, performance data, internal research and market trends to drive growth.
  • Financial & Performance Planning: Set and align performance objectives with Fanatics Commerce’s core pillars:

  • P&L Ownership: Lead all aspects of the league's P&L including financial planning, forecasting and delivering against company objectives and contractual guarantees.
  • Inventory Management: Oversee planning and execution of inventory strategies to maximize sales, minimize excess and support allocation needs for all sales channels.
  • Cross-Functional Leadership: Build and maintain strong partnerships with leaders across Product, Buying, Merchandising, Planning, Finance, Marketing and Sales to ensure aligned execution of strategies.
  • Marketing & Storytelling Alignment: Partner with the Marketing team to align storytelling initiatives that enhance the Fan experience and support commercial objectives.
  • Strategic Execution: Drive initiatives across key levers including pricing, product segmentation, promotional planning, marketing and inventory optimization.
  • Performance Analytics: Analyze financial and operational performance metrics to inform decisions and optimize strategies for profitability and ROI.
  • Market & Industry Insights: Monitor industry and competitor trends to identify new opportunities for growth, including rights acquisition and market expansion.
  • Business Reviews: Lead regular business reviews with internal stakeholders and external partners to assess performance, share insights and align go-forward strategies.
  • Collaboration & Consistency: Partner with other League Directors to ensure consistency, knowledge sharing and scalable best practices across Fanatics Commerce.

 

what you bring to the team:

 

  • Proven ability to lead and scale high-performing teams while delivering aggressive financial and operational results.
  • Significant experience in consumer products, with a strong emphasis on direct-to-consumer (DTC), e-commerce, omni-channel or manufacturing environments.
  • understanding of league partners and Fan behavior, with the ability to drive a unified vision focused on enhancing the Fan experience.
  • Fan-first mindset and a passion for delivering exceptional experiences across all customer touchpoints, especially within digital and omni-channel environments.
  • Highly analytical and metric-driven with strong problem-solving skills and familiarity with modern customer intelligence tools and technologies.
  • Strong leadership presence and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence across all levels of the organization.
  • A change agent who thrives in fast-paced environments and embraces innovation, agility and continuous improvement.
  • Executive-level communication skills with confidence presenting to senior leadership and boards.
  • High emotional intelligence, intellectual curiosity, integrity and a passion for mentoring and developing others.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or a related field; equivalent experience considered.
  • 7+ years of progressive experience in licensing, consumer products or e-commerce industries.
  • Demonstrated experience in buying, merchandising, inventory management, planning and operations.
  • In-depth knowledge of retail and consumer behavior trends in the U.S. and Canada, preferably within the licensed sports merchandise space.<
