What you will do
  

The Manufacturing Engineering and CI Manager will plan, direct and coordinate the daily operations of the engineering and maintenance departments consisting of a staff of engineers, supervisors, technicians and maintenance personnel.  This person will work closely with the corporate R & D department in developing new production methods, setting standards for continuous improvement and interfacing with quality control staff to establish standards and resolve manufacturing issues.  Working under the framework of Johnson Controls Continuous Improvement system, will assess current state performance, identify gaps, visualize and establish a plan to get to the future state, monitor progress and share/acquire best-in-class ideas and systems.  You will identify gaps in Best Business Practice Metrics (BBP’s), and then work with all levels of the plant in establishing and executing a strategy for improving them.  You will assess the Current state of the plant’s Operations;

Position is responsible for managing Manufacturing Engineering personnel, programmers and Lean Manufacturing Professionals. Develop Future State vision and drive and monitor the implementation plan.

This position is located in Largo, FL and will report to the Plant Manager.

How you will do it

  • Develop, evaluate and improve manufacturing methods, utilizing Lean manufacturing tools, knowledge of product design, materials and parts, fabrication processes, tooling, production equipment capabilities, assembly methods and quality control standards.

  • Confer with the Plant Manager, engineering team and other staff to discuss concerns with design and tooling and to ensure efficient production methods while monitoring performance, contributing ideas and focusing on continuous improvement. Assist Plant Manager in any strategic initiative that will help in compliance to standards, implementing new systems, and designing creative solutions that will continuously improve the plant. 

  • Consult with vendors regarding technical issues, arranging for purchase of equipment, materials, and parts and evaluating products according to specifications and quality standards.

  • Estimate production times, staffing requirements and related costs in order to provide information for management decisions.

  • Responsible for insuring that project deadlines, budgets, written procedures and reports are completed and communicated in a timely manner.

  • Ensure that personnel are complying with guidelines set by Johnson Controls Safety Program, OSHA and EPA regarding safety and environmental protection issues in the work area.

  • Prepare and manage a forecasted budget for tooling and project expenses and implement cost improvement plans identifying and eliminating waste and the non-value added expenses. 

  • Oversee installation to ensure machines and equipment are installed and functioning according to specifications.

  • Coach the CI team, including Plant Staff, Lean Implementers, Black Belts, and Green Belts, to apply correct approach /DMAIC tools for improvement.

  • Establishing C.I. Profit Plan and subsequent Forecast goals; driving the team to achieve is important.  

  • Ensure Process Owner involvement in SOW developmen
