Associate Manager, New Verticals - Consumer Strategy & Operations
DoorDashAbout the role
About the Team
New Verticals is a lean team in growth mode at DoorDash that is building and scaling new categories for our customers, leveraging the DoorDash platform. New Verticals includes over 100K grocery, convenience, alcohol, retail and DashMart businesses. The Consumer Growth team supports all of our New Verticals and is a core partner across all of our DoorDash marketplace.
About the Role
You’ll define, execute, and optimize initiatives that grow consumer engagement and revenue across our app surfaces. Working closely with product, engineering, merchandising, and marketing, you’ll launch experiences that drive discovery of new categories and enable CPGs and merchants to reach key audiences. You’ll use data to uncover behavioral insights, measure performance, and identify high-impact growth and monetization opportunities. In tandem, you’ll lead go-to-market efforts for product launches, category expansions, and seasonal campaigns to maximize consumer and partner value. We operate in a hybrid model so we spend a few days a quarter in person together, but all our offices are open should you choose to go in more regularly!
You’re excited about this opportunity because you will…
- Build. You’ll have your fingerprints all over DoorDash’s New Verticals business, across grocery, convenience, retail, alcohol and more. You’ll do whatever it takes to launch, get 1% better every day, and scale something completely new. This means everything from high-level strategy to nitty-gritty operational details.
- Strategize. From first principles, you’ll develop the optimal strategy for best serving our customers, often building programs, processes, and products from scratch.
- Experiment. You’ll transform strategies into operational experiments that create measurable and actionable outcomes, informing your larger initiative implementation plans.
- Analyze. You’ll assess the operational and financial impacts of your decisions, and iterate based on data.
- Lead and collaborate. You’ll work with a cross-functional team, including marketing, design, product, and operations to build this new line of business for DoorDash.
We’re excited about you because…
- You have 4-6+ years of experience. You’ve succeeded in fast-paced, highly collaborative and cross-functional environments (whether in tech, operations, strategy, consulting, banking, or a related experience).
- You’re equally comfortable operating at 10,000 feet and 1 foot. You don’t hesitate to get in the weeds and operate at the lowest level of detail, but you’re just as comfortable thinking long-term and inspiring a team.
- You’re analytical — data wins your arguments. You’re comfortable pulling your own data in SQL, modeling in Excel, and using AI tools to prototype solutions, generate insights, or automate workflows.
- You’re not afraid to dive into technical concepts. You’re eager to understand and operationalize machine learning models to drive targeting, activation, and engagement.
- You solve problems from first principles. You have a talent for synthesizing complex problems, can translate high-level goals into actionable plans, and enjoy implementing a process.
- You’re unafraid of ambiguity. Rapid change and learning is exciting to you, and you thrive in ambiguous, startup environment.
- You have a completed Bachelor’s Degree.
