Compensation Rate: $12.00/hr.                    Closing Date: Open Until Filled 


Workdays/Shift and Hours: Variable schedule that includes weekdays and weekends.

Join our Team! We’re seeking a qualified Special Population support staff for our Parks & Recreation Special Population Program. The Special Population Program provides fun, educational, and socializing activities for community members with special needs. Evening and weekend availability is preferred.
Essential Functions
  • Provide excellent customer service and possess a service philosophy that reflects the mission of the Parks and Recreation Department.
  • Interact effectively with program participants, their families, co-workers, and the community.
  • Assist Program Leader in preparing daily, weekly, and monthly event schedules.
  • Provide accurate and timely reporting of any incidents or accidents that occur.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Setup and teardown before and after scheduled events.
  • Clean and maintain event venue as needed.
  • Assist participants as needed.

Requirements

Knowledge, Skills and Additional Qualifications

  • Previous work experience in community-based recreation programs or non-profit service settings.
  • Obtain CPR certification within six (6) months of employment (training provided for certification).

Preferred: Educational background, training, and/or experience working with individuals who have special needs is preferred.


Other Information

  • Applicants must pass a background check.
  • Staff may be asked to work weekends and holidays.
  • This is not a KPERS-covered position.
  • Seasonal Position: Spring Session Bowling Events (Feb - May).
