The Global Clinical Strategy Lead (GCSL) will develop and implement the plans to collect clinical and economic evidence that a) Expedites introduction of new products globally, b) Expands adoption of products and c) Secures continued access of approved products in compliance with regulations. In this role, you will provide strategic clinical direction for the life cycle of the products across Smith & Nephew's Orthopaedics portfolio. This will be accomplished through awareness of franchise priorities to align clinical activities accordingly and plan ahead. From the franchise and overall perspective, the GCSL will have a clear understanding of the company’s current global investment in clinical evidence collection activities including Smith & Nephew initiated studies, Investigator initiated studies and Data Mining activities and will set strategies to identify and fill any evidence gaps.
What will you be doing?
- Applying a comprehensive understanding of S+N's commercial priorities in setting the clinical strategy for the Orthopaedics portfolio
- Working with the New Product Development and Marketing teams to establish user needs, claims, indications and market strategies, and develop the evidence generation strategies to meet those needs
- Working directly with clinicians and clinical sites to initiate and lead clinical evidence generation activities, including those initiated internally and externally for both new and legacy products
- Generating documents in support of evidence generation activities including study proposals and reports
- Generate publication strategies and write scientific paper and abstracts.
- Communicating strategies and findings from clinical activities to cross-functional partners at all levels of the organisation
- Responding to questions from regulatory authorities to ensure adherence to the appropriate regulations
What will you need to be successful?
- Education: Bachelors degree required, Masters or PhD preferred
- 5+ years experience in medical devices or pharmaceutical organisation in a Clinical, Research & Development, Scientific and Medical Affairs or Regulatory role.
- Experience in developing strategies to generate clinical evidence and working with clinicians to establish and manage clinical evidence generation activities is required.
- Experience in the Orthopaedics field desirable.
- A strategic thinker who can develop competent, deliverable strategies considering high standards of regulatory rigour and commercial.
- Excellent scientific/technical writing skills

The anticipated base compensation range for this position is $150,000 - $170,000 USD annually The actual base pay offered to the successful candidate will be based on multiple factors, including but not limited to job-related knowledge/skills, experience, geographical location, and internal equity. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at the high end of the range for their role at Smith + Nephew. Compensation decisions are dependent upon the facts and circumstance
