About you and this Role
As Sr Pilot Plant Technician, you will utilize process knowledge and operations expertise to safely and proficiently operate Ethylene Oxide Pilot Plant. The key deliverable is accurate process data that meets timelines to make decisions about commercial implementation of catalysts. You will perform operations related activities as per Master Task List, inputs from trial documents, and run sheets. You will correct process or equipment issues and coordinates pilot plant maintenance activities. This is a 24-hour operation, and you will be required to work a normal day schedule or 9/80 schedule and take On-Call duty for off hours for a portion of the month, typically 1 week per month.
Responsibilities
- Ensures safe and efficient operation of assigned plant areas using strong operating discipline and life critical standards.
- Operates and field checks process equipment, and monitors process conditions, equipment, and control systems.
- Write SWP's and perform RTMs, mentors lower level pilot plant technicians on the use of these standards.
- Performs tasks assigned to operations as per Master Task List (e.g. Field checks, equipment preparation, samples, etc.)
- Uses troubleshooting skills to resolve process related deviations and problems.
- Participates in Root Cause Investigations.
- Performs process upset/crisis response activities assigned by Pilot Plant Technologists
- Uses process knowledge and skills to make improvements in plant performance and Operating discipline, including creating and improving job procedures.
- Performs process equipment troubleshooting, minor repairs, improvements and preventative maintenance.
- Supports plant turnarounds and special projects assigned by the technologists.
- Trains Junior Pilot Plants Technicians in preparation for Training Review Board.
- Mentors lower level technicians in development of sound plant operational practices, application of Life Critical Standards, and facility safety culture.
- Completes all assigned training per facility training plan.

Requirements
- A minimum of High School Diploma/GED Equivalent and one or more of the following:
- Associate Degree or higher in Process Technology, Chemistry, Biology, or related field with 2 or more years of experience in a chemical facility operations role.
- 3 or more years of relevant Military training with 2 or more years of experience in a chemical facility operations role.
- 5 or more years of work experience in a chemical facility operations role.
- Must have current, valid US Driver's License.
- Able to work 9 hour days on a 9-80 shifts.
- Able to work overtime as needed.
- Able to work night and weekends for On-Call as required.
- A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.
Preferred Skills
- Experience working around Ethylene Oxide and SIS
- Lone worker experience.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
- Prior pilot plant experience
