Position Responsibilities:

  • Independently set up, operate, and adjust various types and sizes of punch and hydraulic presses, including compound, progressive, and multiple action, to form, blank, and broach sheet metals and parts using hot or cold dies.
  • Review work orders, drawings, and verbal instructions to determine the sequence of operations and select appropriate dies, fixtures, and safety guards for each assignment.
  • Perform safety checks on machines, ensuring the work area is clear of obstacles and that all safety measures, including lockout/tagout, are in place before operation.
  • Rack and unrack parts before and after cutting operations, and load, unload, and operate automated finishing machines to deburr and descale parts.
  • Use hand and power tools, checking fixtures, and precision measuring instruments to accomplish assigned work, including straightening sheet metals and parts.
  • Obtain work packages from material stores or staging areas, ensuring the correct quantity and type of materials, tools, and part tags are included.
  • Move materials and tools to the work area using appropriate equipment, such as table lifts, stackers, or overhead cranes, and ask for assistance when needed.
  • Verify the setup of tools and dies, ensuring they are free from damage and properly secured in the press before operation.
  • Determine the sequence of bends for multiple bend jobs by reviewing drawings and selecting the correct punch and die sets, compensating for material spring back as necessary.
  • Cycle the press to form parts, running first part checks with the Team Leader to ensure quality and compliance with specifications.
  • Use precision measurement tools to ensure bends are within tolerance and check work periodically during production to maintain quality standards.
  • Clean parts, equipment, and tools as required, and follow equipment shutdown procedures at the end of each day.
  • Handle and dispose of hazardous materials in accordance with Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and maintain personal and tool certifications.
  • Document completion of work orders and attach identification tags to parts prior to movement to prevent damage.
  • Communicate with the Team Leader, supervisor, or co-workers for assistance, questions, or to report any issues that arise during operations.

Physical Demands and Potential Hazards:

  • Perform physical tasks that include lifting weights ranging from 10-15 lbs to 15-35 lbs.
  • Engage in various movements such as reaching, handling, turning, twisting, lifting, lowering, climbing, balancing, bending, kneeling, crouching, and squatting.
  • Work in environments that may involve contact with metals, solvents, and coolants.
  • Operate in proximity to moving parts and tools, sharp cutters, and potential slipping hazards.
  • Adapt to varying noise levels and atmospheric conditions.
  • Utilize personal safety gear to protect face/eyes, hands/arms, and feet while performing job duties.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.
