As a Staff Pipeline and Terminal Project Engineer you will provide technical expertise for development and design of capital, expense and maintenance projects. You will also provide project management skills to execute the construction of projects in a safe, profitable, timely and efficient manner.

- Participate in various stages of project development including project identification, economic and feasibility analyses, early-phase design, and cost estimation.
- Prepare and submits “Authorization for Expenditures” (AFE’s) for capital and expense projects per process design.
- Prepare specifications and procures materials and equipment for a timely and efficient execution of projects.
- Provide technical support to all refinery departments that will result in safe, efficient and cost effective installations.
- Oversee and coordinate contract personnel for engineering, design and installation of capital, expense and maintenance projects.
- Perform cost tracking and status reporting for assigned projects.
- Assist in the optimization of existing assets, which may include hydraulic analysis.
- Reduce potential risk to public safety and environment, and minimizes company liability.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously within a managed budget and execution schedule.
- Follow all safety rules and guidelines.
- Provide technical expertise to create, update, and maintain Valero Standards and Engineering Specifications.
- Assist in development and mentoring of newly hired or lower level engineers in the department.
- Coordinate with other departments such as Right-of-Way, Safety & Environmental, Regulatory Compliance, and Operations in the management and development of projects.
- Other duties as assigned.
This position is salaried exempt status, which means you are not eligible for overtime pay.
Qualifications:
Minimum Requirements:
- Able and willing to work on-site, in-person at the Valero San Antonio location required.
- Bachelor’s or higher level degree in Engineering required.
- 8 years of experience in pipeline, terminal or related operating environment required.
Preferred Requirements:
- Bachelor’s or higher level degree - in Mechanical Engineering.
