About the role

This is a remote position.

Schedule: Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM Brisbane Time (AEST)
Total Weekly Hours: 20 hours

Manage day-to-day bookkeeping and assist with month-end close. Handle AP/AR, reconciliations, and basic journals, while preparing schedules and summaries for management.

Responsibilities

  • Accounts Payable: Enter bills, match receipts, schedule payments, and maintain vendor files.

  • Accounts Receivable: Create invoices, apply payments, run aging reports, and follow up on overdue accounts.

  • Reconcile bank and credit card transactions daily or weekly; clear unreconciled items within 7 days.

  • Post basic journals for accruals, prepayments, and reclasses under guidance.

  • Prepare expense reports and verify documentation against policy.

  • Assist with payroll data preparation and timesheet validation; coordinate cutoffs.

  • Maintain customer and supplier master data with accurate tax details.

  • Prepare weekly dashboards including cash position, AP/AR aging, open items, and variances.

  • File source documents in shared drives with consistent naming and audit trails.

  • Compile supporting documents for auditors and tax preparers (e.g., AP/AR listings, GL extracts).

  • Update and follow SOPs; identify control gaps and propose improvements.

  • Communicate status and blockers clearly via Slack/Zoom, meeting agreed SLAs.



Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

  • 1–3 years of bookkeeping or accounting experience.

  • Recent hands-on use of Xero or QuickBooks Online.

  • End-to-end AP and AR processing experience.

  • Proven ability to complete bank and credit card reconciliations with no items older than 7 days.

  • Experience posting basic journals for accruals, prepayments, and reclasses.

  • Strong Excel/Google Sheets skills (VLOOKUP, INDEX-MATCH, SUMIFS, pivot tables).

  • Clear written and spoken English; able to write clean notes and simple SOPs.

  • High attention to detail with consistent on-time delivery.


Preferred

  • Experience with Australian GST/BAS.
