Security Solution Architect

Description

Location: 80% in-office (located in Rolling Meadows) / 20% travel

Status: Full-time (exempt)

Compensation: Starting at $110K (BOE)

Silver Star Technology provides comprehensive technical security solutions to out customers. We are currently looking to bring a Security System Solution Architect to the team. This individual will help manage installation projects, client relationships and leading the technician team.  

Role-Specific Expertise1. CCTV Systems:

• Design and deploy surveillance systems, including IP and analog cameras.
• Proficient in Video Management Systems (VMS) such as Digital Watchdog, Milestone, Genetec, or Avigilon.
• Knowledge of camera types, resolutions, lenses, field of view, and placement strategies.
• Integration with analytics tools for motion detection, facial recognition, and perimeter security.

2. Access Control Systems:

• Proficient in implementing access control software like DMP, ICT, PDK, Kantech, LenelS2, Honeywell, Alarm.com, or Brivo.
• Knowledge of credential technologies (e.g., RFID, biometrics, keypads, smart cards).
• Design scalable systems that integrate with IT networks and cloud services.
• Expertise in integrating access control with other security solutions (CCTV, alarms).

3. Burglary Alarm Systems:

• Deploy alarm systems from vendors like DMP, ICT, DSC, or Honeywell.
• Understand sensors and devices (motion detectors, glass break sensors, panic buttons).
• Integrate alarm systems with monitoring centers for real-time alerts and responses.

4. Strong IT Background:

• Networking: Knowledge of VLANs, VPNs, firewalls, switches, gateways and network topology for secure deployments.
• IoT: Expertise in integrating smart security devices into larger networks.
• Ensure system integrity with encryption, firewalls, and secure protocols.
• Troubleshooting and diagnosing network and device issues.

5. Engaging with trends like AI-based surveillance, IoT-enabled access controls, and cloud monitoring is huge advantage. 

Requirements

 Key Skills & Competencies

1. Technical Skills:

• Protocols: TCP/IP, ONVIF, PoE, RTSP, and SNMP.
• Systems Integration: Seamless connection of disparate systems into a cohesive solution.
• Software: Familiarity with AutoCAD, System Surveyor or Bluebeam for design layouts and system diagrams.

2. Soft Skills:

• Project Management: Oversee end-to-end system deployment within time and budget constraints.
• Communication: Clearly explain complex systems to non-technical stakeholders.
• Analytical Thinking: Assess site-specific requirements to develop tailored solutions.

Certifications to Boost Credibility

1. IT-Related Certifications - advantage:

• CompTIA Network+ or Security+.
• Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA).
• Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH) to strengthen cybersecurity expertise.

2. Vendor-Specific Certifications - advantage:

• Certifications for VMS (Milestone, Avigilon or Genetec)
• Certifications from leading alarm/access control vendors.
