Job Description
Based on specialized nursing knowledge, the highly trained Critical Care Registered Nurse works with patients who have life-threatening illnesses or conditions, performing duties including:
Provide critical nursing care to patients with serious, complex, and acute illnesses and injuries that need specialized nursing expertise in order to survive or de-escalate, including intense interventions and critical complex care
Provides specialized nursing care to patients with acute, chronic, and/or terminal illnesses; performs initial and ongoing assessments based on the patient’s diagnosis and care needs.
Provides advanced nursing input into interdisciplinary team involvement, committees, program evaluations, evidence-based practice projects, education, and the mentoring nursing student interns on rotation.
Evaluate patients' conditions or laboratory data to determine emergency intervention needs.
Analyze data obtained from monitoring or diagnostic tests.
Monitor patients for changes in status and indications of conditions such as sepsis or shock and institute appropriate interventions.
Monitor patients to detect emerging problems, such as fluid and electrolyte imbalances.
Prioritize nursing care for assigned critically ill patients, based on assessment data or identified needs.
