Long-Term Substitute High School Visual Art Teacher (rev.09042025)

Job Posting Summary: 

Ensworth School seeks an experienced visual art teacher to join its high school faculty and teach five sections in the Spring 2026 semester. The ideal applicant will have three or more years of teaching experience in photography, ceramics and/or studio art and the demonstrated ability to form meaningful relationships with students, facilitate curriculum, lesson plans, and units through working with students and colleagues. Key Responsibilities and Essential Functions:

• Adheres to the Essential Expectations of an Ensworth Faculty, Staff, or Administrator
• Teaches five visual arts classes including Photography, Ceramics, and/or Studio Art.
• Integrates technology to support curricular aims and help students effectively achieve their goals.
• Provides continual assessment of student progress and communicates academic performance with the support of the Visual and Performing Arts Department Chair.
• Provides student support and supervision both inside and outside the classroom.
• Must be able to steward artistic materials, keep arts spaces clean and clear, and organized in preparation for shared workspaces and classes.
• Works as a collaborative and supportive member of the Arts Team bringing positive energy and a strong “roll up your sleeves” work ethic to all aspects of work in support of classrooms and art displays. 
• Is a highly visible, approachable, and communicative community member, available to answer questions,  provide assistance, and represent the school and program with a high degree of professionalism.
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications/Experience:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Visual Arts and/or Visual Arts Education.
• Minimum of 2-4 years of Visual Arts teaching experience.
• Must be a highly skilled Artist with a presentable portfolio of work. 
• Advanced understanding and ability to use computers and technology, including Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, basic office equipment, and Adobe Creative Suite
• Well-developed interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with all constituents in a school environment, including students, co-workers, parents, alumnae, volunteers, and the public
• Possess a positive team mentality with excellent problem-solving, multi-tasking, and organization skills
• Professional and efficient in their ability to work independently while also able to effectively collaborate with internal teams and external partners
• Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously with differing deadlines
• A high degree of accuracy, superior attention to detail
• Must successfully complete background screening and verification
• Continued Education Programs (as required by Grade Level and/or position) – Periodically participate in different training sessions identified by you, the employee and/or Divisional Leadership/Supervisor with the goal of keeping our teachers and staff up to date with current teaching methods, practices and any new knowledge in their respective field. Dependent on the program, such training may need to take place outside of normal working hours and/or in the summer months.
