Assistant Facility Security Officer (AFSO)

About the role

The successful candidate will support all security functions following the 32 CFR Rule National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual (NISPOM).  Understand all U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) security requirements, process all personnel security clearance documentation via the National Background Investigation Services (NBIS), maintain records, manage security training programs as well as prepare and administer required security orientation training and annual refresher training.  Conduct all facility-related change conditions and self-inspections and prepare for all Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency (DCSA) security reviews.

The successful candidate will be able to apply and grow their skillsets, work with a motivated and entrepreneurial team, engage with a wide range of stakeholders, and build CGS’ capabilities.

 As an AFSO, you will:  

  • Submit visit requests as directed by the Government Customer using the Defense Information System for Security (DISS)/ Army Centralized Contracts and Security (ACCS) portal and other systems.
  • Assist with updating and maintaining all security-related databases for our Clients, including DISS, and the National Industrial Security System (NISS).
  • Update and maintain data and documents in DISS/ NISS.
  • Maintain records of employee foreign travel.
  • Receive requests and follow local protocols regarding visit request with affiliate organizatioins.
  • Investigate security violations, conduct administrative inquiries, and submit reports as required.
  • Manage Client’s safeguarding requirements to include providing document control numbers and maintaining access rosters to security containers
  • Prepare and execute DD Form 254s for our clients.
  • Act as liaison with DCSA, as required.
  • Ensure our clients are compliant with Facility Clearance (FCL) Government regulations.
  • Understand our clients’ corporate structure and bylaws as they pertain to the National Industrial Security Program (NISP).
  • Update Standard Practices and Procedures (SPP), Annual Training, and Foreign Travel Briefings.
  • Other duties may be assigned by the Management and/or the CGS Executive Team.
  • Perform Emergency Management functions as directed.
  • Advise the client population on current physical security standards for government and industry.

Required Qualifications:  

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent related work experience.
  • Experience:  2+ years as an AFSO or FSO
  • Clearance:  Must possess and be able to maintain a minimum of clearance and be eligible for a Top Secret (TS) Clearance.
  • Knowledge:  Extensive knowledge and experience utilizing DISS.  Knowledge of the NISPOM rules regarding Foreign Ownership, Control or Influence (FOCI).
