About the Work:
About the Team & Role:
We seek a seasoned backend engineer with experience designing, implementing, and maintaining scalable distributed systems.
Core Services is one of the important pillars of the platform, with the north star of building the right abstractions for patterns of problems such as Identity & Access Management, Eventing service, Communication Service, Location Service, etc. We build solutions that support other engineering teams and also work on some customer-facing products.
The ideal candidate is driven by providing business value through influence, engagement & adoption of their solutions, is comfortable working with systems at varying maturity levels, and appreciates making nuanced tradeoffs. You will join a small team of highly skilled, enthusiastic, and passionate engineers with an opportunity to create an outsized impact and contribute to the future evolution of Honor’s Care Platform.
What are we looking for in a candidate:
- You thrive in a foundational role supporting diverse, cross-functional teams as your customers, and possess exceptional problem-solving and analytical skills
- You have at least 6 years of professional experience within a product-centric company
- You’ve been a key contributor to the design and implementation of large, complex projects
- You are comfortable working in and refactoring legacy, monolithic code
- You are a strong communicator, both verbally and in writing
- You’ve built and maintained production-grade features in Python or have transferable experience in common languages like Node.js and are willing to learn Python
- You have experience building distributed systems and cloud services like AWS, GCP
- You value leading through influence, have empathy for your customers, and take pride in building solutions that drive impact through enthusiastic adoption
- You have experience defining, instrumenting and measuring standards for quality, security, scalability, and availability with a focus on delivering business value
Some, or all, of these are true:
- You have experience working with an RPC architecture
- You work at or have worked at a technology startup and familiar with the challenges of evolving platform maturity
- You have first hand experience navigating multiple distributed architecture patterns

What’s next?
Honor is remote-friendly! We're hiring across the U.S., with an entirely virtual interview and onboarding process. Most of our positions are remote/work from home and do not require permanent relocation. As conditions allow, we have office space for in-person collaboration in our San Francisco Bay Area, CA, and Austin, TX hubs.
