Purpose
The ETS Project Engineer 1 is an entry-level engineering position that supports EFCO’s Engineering Technical Support (ETS) operations by maintaining accurate product metadata, developing and managing essential technical tools and documentation, and ensuring consistency across engineering resources.
This role drives product and process integrity by administering the Engineering Change Request process, coordinating cross functional reviews, and enabling effective implementation of product updates. Additionally, this role supports other engineering positions within EFCO and has no direct reports.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Support Tools and Documents (40%)
• Maintain and manage metadata for Standard EFCO products to support the creation of tools and documentation used by key internal departments responsible for servicing and delivering projects.
• This position also assists with maintaining Engineering Manuals and creating sales materials such as Price Books, while ensuring consistency and reusability through standardized templates and terminology.
• Apply mathematics and technical skills to ensure engineering designs align with EFCO’s Quality standards and customer needs.
Engineering Change Requests (25%)
• Manage the end-to-end Engineering Change Request process by coordinating submissions, ensuring accurate documentation, facilitating reviews and approvals, and overseeing implementation to maintain product integrity and support continuous improvement.
• Develop and enhance tools for documenting, tracking, and reporting Change Request status and metrics.
• Collaborate with ETS team members, Manufacturing and Distribution team members, Product Engineers, and others to assist implementation of required changes.
Training and Standards (25%)
• Complete all required training, including EFCO’s core value training, policies, procedures, and forming systems.
• Learn and apply EFCO’s Sales and Engineering standards.
• Leverage effective oral and written communication to ensure adoption of standards while fostering Innovation in Engineering practices.
Project Coordination and Communication (10%)
• Serve as a key contact for project-related questions.
• Support process clarity, schedule awareness, and internal alignment by applying strong organizational awareness.

Qualifications
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering required.
• Experience: Up to 2 years of professional or construction experience.
• Certification(s) and License(s): Must obtain FE (EIT certification or international equivalent if available) before advancing to higher engineering levels.
• Computer Skills: Familiarity with Computer-Aided Drafting (CAD).
• Other Requirements: Problem-solving skills, organizational abilities, and PC proficiency are a plus. Some travel is necessary.
Working Arrangement
• This role will work 100% onsite at our Des Moines, IA office.
