Job Summary
SUMMARY:We are recruiting a highly experienced laboratory professional to play a foundational leadership role across multiple laboratories at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School which are advancing genomics, cancer biology, immuno-oncology and computational research. The position will be jointly supported by PIs in the MGB Department of Pathology, the MGB Cancer Institute and the MGH Krantz Family Center for Cancer Research.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The main responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
Laboratory Operations Management
● Design and optimize operational workflows to ensure efficient lab operation
● Collaborate with scientific personnel to develop and maintain SOPs for all assays, equipment and pipelines
● Manage ordering, budgeting, and oversee inventory management systems
● Manage equipment installation, maintenance schedules, and vendor/service relationships
● Oversee compliance with laboratory regulations for human subjects research, vertebrate animal studies, biosafety, chemical, radiation, and recombinant DNA use
● Deploy sample tracking and LIMS solutions in collaboration with computational teams
● Interface with collaborators to complete and oversee material transfer and other inter-institutional agreements
● Support onboarding, training, and mentoring of new lab members
● Attend laboratory meetings on a regular basis to interface with lab members in a group setting
● Assist with the preparation of grant proposals and progress reports
Experimental / Research Support
In addition to laboratory operations management, this role may occasionally require direct experimental support in collaboration with scientific laboratory personnel. Examples of these duties include:
● Coordinate sample logistics and processing
● Support high-quality NGS library generation Interface with core facilities at MGB, Broad Institute and collaborating partners for sequencing, imaging, single-cell genomics, and other assays
● Troubleshoot protocols and help implement new technologies in the lab
Qualifications
Education
Bachelor's Degree Related Field of Study required
Experience
Research Related Experience 5-7 years required
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Excellent Organizational skills and communication skills.
- Computer literacy to the level of at least word processing, spreadsheets, databases, graphics, statistics, engineering tools and programming.
- Ability to demonstrate professionalism and respect for subjects' rights and individual needs and ability to maintain positive working relationships with co-workers and work cooperatively with peers.
- Budget Management skills.
- Ability to work independently.
