The Role: Principal Analyst, Automotive Feature Planning

The Team: At S&P Global Mobility, our Automotive Supply Chain and Technology team is seeking a Principal Analyst in Feature Planning with a strong automotive background. The Impact: You will be part of a global team of nearly 100 analysts within the Automotive Supply Chain, Technology, and Aftermarket organization. You will engage daily with a dedicated global team focused on researching Connected Car and Vehicle Experience topics as well as a broader organization looking at every area of the vehicle.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop strategic relationships with automakers to act as a key liaison with S&P Global technical experts and consulting specialists to bring innovative, value-add solutions to support business planning decisions
  • Contribute to the research and development of forecast databases across consumer-facing content including software-defined vehicles, connected cars, digital cockpits, over-the-air (OTA) updates, and connected services.
  • Conduct primary and secondary research on these technologies to enhance the quality and precision of deliverables.
  • Lead and manage complex research projects with the assistance of a team of subject matter experts.
  • Extract insights from data to present findings to the industry, whether directly to clients or through internal/external presentations via webinars or at in-person events.
  • Provide active support to clients in understanding the market, our methodology, and utilizing our data for critical business decisions.
  • Assist our sales team in showcasing products, capabilities, and expertise to potential clients.
  • Build and maintain an industry network to gather market perspectives and validate research assumptions.

Basic Qualifications:

  • A depth of understanding about the automaker feature selection process, cost consideration, market segmentation, and customer value proposition for in-vehicle features.
  • In-depth knowledge of the current state and future direction of the automotive industry, particularly concerning software-defined vehicles, including connected cars, digital cockpits, software, over-the-air (OTA) updates, and connected services.
  • Experience in vehicle technology competitive benchmarking, leveraging consumer preferences to develop feature roadmaps and define differentiation strategies.
  • Strong skills in data analysis and interpretation, especially when working with large datasets.
  • Demonstrable communication skills with internal and external stakeholders, in particular to international stakeholders, with the ability to deliver strategic recommendations to executive-level audiences.
  • High motivation and strong organizational skills to achieve challenging targets under tight deadlines.
  • Working experience of these automotive features at an automaker, with product and feature planning preferred, or client-facing experience in strategy consulting.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ideally, over 7 years of experience in the areas of automotive feature planning with consumer-facing content.
  • Experience with automotive market data platforms or feature benchmarking tools a plus. Preference for candidates with strong industry connections.
  • Passionate about the expansive field of software-defined vehicles.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, with a helpful understanding of database mechanics (e.g., Access, SQL).
  • Fluent in English.

Compensation/Benefits Information (US Applicants Only): S&P Global states that the anticipated base salary range for this position is $75,671-$120,000. Final base salary for this role will be based on the individual’s geographic location, as well as experience level, skill set, training, licenses, and certifications. In addition to base compensation, this role is eligible for an annual incentive plan.  This role is eligible to receive additional S&P Global benefits.
