Actual compensation will depend on a candidate’s education, experience, skills, and geographic location.  The anticipated wage for this position is

$63,000 - $162,800

The Bioproduct Research and Development (BR&D) organization strives to deliver creative medicines to patients through the development and commercialization of insulins, oligonucleotides, monoclonal antibodies, novel therapeutic proteins, peptides and gene therapy systems. This organization is a multidisciplinary group that works collaboratively with our discovery and manufacturing colleagues. Located in Indianapolis, IN, scientists have full access to our scientific excellence and engineering capabilities.

Works as an individual contributor to support project teams and platform development efforts. Job responsibilities include performing characterization testing of a variety of in-process materials, drug substance, and drug product; as well as development of characterization methods.

Responsibilities:

  • Efficiently and effectively manage deliverables to provide support for multiple projects at multiple phases. Identify internal and external customer requirements and develop solutions to meet customer needs.
  • Perform all aspects of lab operations such as sample receipt, data generation, review and verification, instrument qualification, operation and troubleshooting, and all supporting documentation for such activities, including appropriate use of LIMS and other informatics tools. Make sound technical decisions, and appropriately communicate these decisions to other scientists and management.
  • Effectively collaborate with other groups within Development, Discovery, Global Quality Labs and Manufacturing.
  • Openly share technical knowledge and lessons learned. Maintain awareness of the science and industry trends.
  • Author / review of protocols, technical reports and regulatory documents.
  • Ensure work is aligned with all relevant Quality, regulatory, and HSE requirements.

Basic Requirements:

  •  MS in Biophysics / Biophysical Chemistry / Biochemistry / Chemistry, or a related field; or, BS in Biophysics / Biophysical Chemistry / Biochemistry / Chemistry, or a related field with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.


Additional Skills/Preferences:

  • Knowledge of biophysical techniques used to assess higher order structure of proteins, nucleic acids, and other biomolecules is highly preferred.
  • Experience with analytical method development.
  • Demonstrated self-management, task planning and organization, problem solving and decision-making skills.
  • Demonstrated technical and scientific leadership skills.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Proven ability to adapt and learn quickly.

Demonstrated ability to work productively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
