Natron Energy is seeking an Engineer to develop processes for joining metals using Laser and Ultrasonic welding, and to implement these processes into production in a Santa Clara Battery and Pack pilot line and a volume manufacturing line in Michigan. Responsibilities:
- Initiate and lead process improvement projects in Ultrasonic and Laser welding of battery cells and packs
- Provide engineering leadership for electromechanical assembly of battery modules and packs that include board-level electronics, firmware, batteries and enclosures.
- Work effectively with cross-functional teams to implement new equipment, fixtures, and procedures to improve quality, yield, uptime, cycle time and throughput.
- Develop, update, and maintain process documentation and SPC-based manufacturing control plans. Perform DOE, process capability, PFMEA, cycle time studies, and line balancing activities.
- Function as the company’s Subject Matter Expert in all aspects of welding and metal joining.
- Support new product introduction and sustaining product process optimizations.
- Automate data collection for manufacturing execution and process control
- Perform DF(X) design for manufacturing/test/Assembly analysis on existing and new products.
- Assist directly with the transfer of processes to a manufacturing line in Michigan.
Experience and Skills:
- Bachelor’s, Master’s or PhD. degree in engineering, materials science, chemistry, physics, or related field.
- Several years of engineering experience in laser or ultrasonic welding. Battery assembly experience is a plus.
- Experience with high-volume battery manufacturing is a plus
- Fluency in Six Sigma problem-solving methods and tools including DOE, fishbone, FMEA, Control Charts and statistical analysis.
Logistics:
- Position is based in Santa Clara, CA. Some travel (20%) will be required.
Compensation/Pay Transparency:

- In addition, Natron Energy has a strong benefits package including Medical, Dental, Vision, 401k Plan with Match, Life Insurance, Parental Leave Benefits, Discretionary Time Off (DTO) and Paid Time Off (PTO) for Exempt and Non-Exempt employees respectively, and 11 paid holidays.
- The salary range for this position is a minimum of $135,500 and a maximum of $183,500.
