Job Description
AECOM is actively seeking an experienced and talented Transportation Business Unit Leader. This is the key position for our Southeast Region transportation group, and you will be joining a team of highly successful transportation professionals with exceptional knowledge and experience with all aspects of the States of Tennessee, Alabama, North Carolina and South Carolina transportation industry. This is a career opportunity that encompasses leading a business with relationships in multiple transportation markets including but not limited to surface transportation, transit, aviation, rail, ports, and construction services. The qualified candidate is required to reside in Tennessee, Alabama, North Carolina, or South Carolina.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Provide leadership and strategic direction for a business line (Transportation) for all regions, states and market sectors across the business unit
- Serve as AECOM’s industry leader in the business line and collaborates with peers in other geographies to provide consistent market approaches, leverage technical expertise, ensure client satisfaction and implement best practices
- Develop a strategic plan to drive strategy, growth, backlog, and sales in defined market sectors and end-markets across the business unit
- Manage business development (BD) resources and budget to deliver an acceptable return on BD investment
- Build relationships with key clients, funding sources, industry organizations, teaming partners, and stakeholders to identify opportunities and grow the business
- Attract, develop and retain industry leaders, prominent technical specialists and core team members to strengthen our business unit delivery team, our brand and our performance for our clients
- Coordinate and collaborates with other business unit and regional business line leaders to maximize cross-selling and to offer integrated services to global, geography-wide and regional clients
- Develop key industry relationships, promotes technical practices, innovation, sharing, and knowledge management
- Understand, Manage, and Attain key performance metrics for the business, including sales, revenues, profit, and cash flow measures
- Responsible for the overall technical practice, project performance, and operational management of all areas and offices within the business unit
Qualifications
Minimum:
- Bachelor’s degree
- Twelve years of experience including 4 years of successful leadership running a profit/loss center with a broad understanding of the transportation business or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
- Experience and familiarity with TN, AL, NC and SC programs/projects and leadership and/or National experience with similar state DOT programs
- Proven ability to provide leadership and strategic direction for a business unit or geographic business line
- Proven ability to coordinate efforts across regions, business lines and geographies, growth of the business line and development of strategic plans, policies and organizational objectives
- Proven aptitude for applying a full understanding of company procedures, professional standards, policies, and business practices to achieve financial results, meet business deadlines and grow a business
- Valid U.S Driver’s License required to visit project sites, clients, and other AECOM offices. As a condition of employment, selected candidate must pass a Motor Vehicle Records review
Preferred:
- PE licensure (TN, AL, NC or SC) (or comparable industry-recognized certification/licensure)
- Proven track record of extensive industry experience
