Position Overview
Serves as the Chief of Medical Services for the Department of Human Services (DHS). Organizes the goals and objectives for statewide medical and clinical services programs, verifying all applicable standards, rules and regulations are taken into account. Formulates and implements fiscal control policies and procedures. Remains up-to-date and researches data pertinent to lifestyle-related illnesses, as well as chronic illness processes. Represents the DHS Safety Officer and Secretary on various task forces, advisory committees and special interest groups. Conducts department-wide facility visits and attends Quality Improvement meetings.
Essential Functions

Serves as the Chief of Medical Services for the Department of Human Services (DHS).

Organizes the goals and objectives for statewide medical and clinical services programs, verifying all applicable standards, rules and regulations are taken into account.

Formulates and implements fiscal control policies and procedures.

Remains up-to-date and researches data pertinent to lifestyle-related illnesses, as well as chronic illness processes.

Serves as full-line supervisor.

Represents the DHS Safety Officer and Secretary on various task forces, advisory committees and special interest groups.

Conducts department-wide facility visits and attends Quality Improvement meetings.

Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications
-
Requires an Illinois license to practice medicine and completion of an approved residency in Psychiatry.

Requires five (5) years of progressively responsible psychiatric administrative experience in the planning, direction and coordination of medical/clinical treatment programs after completion of the required residency programs.
Preferred Qualifications
-
Seven (7) years of experience in forensic and general psychiatric practice, demonstrated through education, professional experience, and current American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN) certification.
