Our Data R&D team develops all the digital biomarkers that will be embedded in our products, bringing them from initial discovery phases through final clinical validation.</p><p>We are looking for a Senior Data Scientist with a passion for scientific discovery and extensive experience in solving complex scientific challenges. If you are an independent, pragmatic, and goal-oriented person, who is able to achieve results in a timely manner and wants to make a difference in the world, read on. In this role, you will be leading our R&D projects and will be working with our proprietary algorithms that, among many other things, help the lives of many patients every day. You will analyze and help solve challenging problems by building algorithms to effectively measure outcomes and overcome obstacles.</p><p>You will:<br/></p><ul> <li>Develop digital biomarkers within our product by means of Machine Learning techniques.</li> <li>Lead clinical and/or research initiatives (e.g., literature review, solution development, team discussion, team coordination, and implementation) to further improve Empatica's product offering.</li> <li>Guide or create IRB-proof protocols, including statistical analysis plan, data management plan, and clinical performance evaluation, for clinical studies involving human subjects.</li> <li>Design, plan and coordinate data collections.</li> <li>Mentor junior members of the team, both from a scientific and technical point of view.</li> <li>Serve as a technical expert for partner institutions conducting clinical studies with our products.</li> </ul>Some important details: <ul> <li>Empatica is an international environment with offices in Europe and the US, and so we conduct all our work in English.</li> <li>We are operating a hybrid model where our employees choose whether to work from home or come to the office.</li> </ul><p><strong>Requirements</strong></p><p>You are the ideal person for this job if you:</p><ul> <li>Have a Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering. </li> <li>Have worked a minimum of 3 years with medical or healthcare data.</li> <li>Are experienced in managing R&D projects in either in-company or academic settings.</li> <li>Are proficient in signal processing, statistical analysis, and the development of machine learning algorithms.</li> <li>Have a proven track record of coordinating or taking part in clinical and/or research studies.</li> <li>Have programming experience in one or more of the following languages:<ul> <li>Python</li> <li>Matlab</li> <li>C/C++</li> </ul> </li> <li>Have experience in healthcare applications, or a strong interest and desire to learn about them.</li> <li>Are proficient in English (mother tongue is a plus).</li> <li>Have a passion for Empatica’s products and mission.</li> <li>Have resilience, a get-things-done attitude, and an innate desire to do great work.</li> </ul>Nice to have: <ul> <li>Hands-on experience in Neurology, Cardiovascular diseases, Sleep analysis, Digital therapeutics, Fatigue detection, Pain monitoring, and/or Depression.</li> <li>Experience leading teams.</li> <li>Experience with large code bases.</li> </ul><p><br/></p><h3>Life at Empatica</h3><p>You will join a fast-growing, international, and diverse team of 120+ talented people who care passionately about what we do and the difference we are making in the world.
