Job Description:

Legal Operations Specialist providing legal operations support to the TD Securities Legal team in New York as a member of its Core Legal team. The optimal candidate will have prior in-house legal operations experience with progressively increasing responsibilities.

Job Description

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Managing legal operations for the team: work closely with the legal operations teams in other offices, handle vendors such as law firms and technology providers as well as related billing matters and technical issues
  • Work in collaboration with, and provide backup support to, the group admin as needed
  • Office management support: liaise with IT for hardware and software needs, handle real estate and facilities requests, manage supplies and coordinate logistics for team meetings and events
  • Document assistance: assist team members as needed with creating, editing and printing files
  • Legal support for the Core Legal team, such as subpoena and e-discovery management
  • Participate in and take the lead on special and recurring projects as they arise
  • Assist with any other related operational and administrative tasks as needed

Preferred Qualifications:

To fulfill the responsibilities of the position, the candidate should have a bachelor's degree and a minimum of 3 years' experience working in an operations or administrative position, ideally in an in-house legal department. The candidate must have strong organizational skills, be proactive and be able to prioritize and promptly respond to issues as they arise. The candidate must exercise excellent judgment, have exceptional communication skills and be a team player. The candidate should be comfortable interacting with senior level attorneys. The ability to routinely handle confidential information is a must. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook and Visio is required.

Depth & Scope:

  • Works independently as the senior officer and may coach and educate others
  • Individual contributor role providing specialized expertise or may lead a small team of specialists
  • Considered a subject matter expert within a given area working closely with business partners, auditors and/or regulators
  • Contact for business management, regulators and external/internal auditors with assistance from Management, dealing with routine information
  • Provides day to day interaction and support to Management
  • Oversees/executes and/or performs tasks from end to end
  • Focuses on short to mid-term issues (e.g. monthly-quarterly)
