All Summer Interns will have a focus area matching their interests and camp’s needs. As a Summer Intern, you will be based at Bryant Pond 4-H Camp in Bryant Pond, Maine. Summer Interns are vital to creating a positive camp experience by focusing on a specific element of camp: marketing, or garden, or camp counseling. You will be actively interacting with staff and campers through daily activities, lessons, and meals. Summer Interns may possibly stay in cabins and bunkhouses with campers. Summer Interns reside on-site with campers throughout the season, with at least 1.5 hrs off each day. Typical camp weeks go from Sunday at 11:00 am to Friday at 2:00 pm. Work beyond the base schedule (outlined above) will receive compensatory time off. Full-Time, Temporary (June to August) . $450-550 per week, for up to 10 weeks, commensurate with experience.
The internship tracks are as follows:
MARKETING INTERN:
The Marketing Intern will create a marketing campaign for Bryant Pond over the course of the summer. After receiving training, the Marketing Intern will work fairly independently to create an effective marketing plan for summer camp. All interns will also have programming responsibilities, working directly with kids.
GARDEN MANAGER INTERN:
The Garden Manager Intern will design and maintain the vegetable garden at Bryant Pond 4-H Camp & Learning Center. This position makes the principles of ecology come alive for youth campers through gardening, recycling, energy conservation, animal care, and composting lessons. This position involves both gardening and leading educational activities for campers.
YOUTH PROGRAMMING INTERN:
The Youth Programming Interns will perform outdoor education and youth programming. This is the internship equivalent of the Summer Camp Counselor position, matching the responsibilities outlined for our camp counselor staff. Bryant Pond leadership staff will work with the Youth Programming Interns to help this position meet the interests and requirements of the applicant and any specific internship requirements.
Responsibilities:
Your responsibilities will include supervising campers and implementing engaging activities while fostering a supportive, inclusive, and respectful living environment and modeling positive behavior and environmental stewardship. In addition, you will:
MARKETING INTERN:
- Craft and launch a marketing campaign for camp
- Taking photos and videos, editing, printing
- Using a drone to take videos
- Maintaining social media accounts
- Creating graphic designs for promotional materials
- Creating merchandising designs for clothing, logos, etc.
- The Marketing Intern will have the opportunity to be involved with supporting other elements of camp for instance helping with the ropes course, waterfront, bunkhouse supervision, and shooting sports.

GARDEN MANAGER INTERN:
- Creating a harvest plan that will be given to the kitchen staff to be used for camp meals in the dining hall
- Plant, water, weed, and harvest the camp garden
- Manage youth, staff, and adults who come to the garden
- Teach gardening, composting, sustainability, and outdoor skills lessons, games, and challenge course sessions
- Contribute ideas for the continual development of programs and to strengthen our teaching team
- Supporting summer camp programming

YOUTH PROGRAMMING INTERN:
- Engage with campers throughout the day—including during lessons, choice blocks, evening activities, and meals—to build meaningful connections and provide guidance.
- Activities may include hiking, arts & crafts, archery & riflery, kayaking, swimming, fishing, canoeing, outdoor cooking, camping and more..
- Participate fully in staff training and meetings, bringing ideas to help improve the camp experience for everyone.
- Model healthy living, positive energy, open communication, and a commitment to environmental stewardship.
- Supervise campers at all times, ensuring their safety and well-being.
- Help plan and carry out a variety of camp events.
- Contribute to community living by taking part in chores (helping hands), meal service, and any necessary maintenance duties.
- Follow all health protocols, maintaining a safe and healthy environment for campers and staff alike.
