Position Description
The BorgWarner Arden campus offers two world class technical centers and a cutting-edge manufacturing facility that designs and produces turbos, fan, and fan drive components for the automotive industry. The Arden campus offers a multitude of career opportunities and is in the beautiful mountains of Western North Carolina.
This position is responsible for prototype turbocharger builds. Technicians are required to review prints and assembly documentation followed by the assembly of the turbocharger. This position requires close work with the lead technician and the engineering staff as most of the builds in the model shop are small lot prototype turbochargers.
Key Accountabilities
- Measure and build all architectures of Turbos
- Ability to modify components to create custom operating conditions
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
- Ability to set wastegates on pneumatic and electronic actuators applications
- Ability to perform end of line learn on electronic actuators for VTG turbos
- Ability to build shaft motion Turbos for testing
- Perform manual machining as required for build
- Ability to single plane high speed balance on NVH 4 including setup, calibration, and correction to engineering specifications
- Ability to low-speed core balance assemblies, including setup, calibration, and correction to engineering specifications
- Ability to use SAP to pull prints and specifications
- Ability to work independently and adjust priorities per demand.
- Understand and adhere to current health, safety, and environmental policies.
- Communicate and enforce safe work procedures.
- Identify and close safety issues (suggestions, inspection, and investigation findings) and their corrective actions.
- Understand and adhere to current quality and control policies.
- Communicate with Engineers.
- Interpret work orders correctly and follow special directions as required.
- Ensure accurate receipt of finished parts according to the Work Order.
- Verify the fit compatibility of parts by visual and metrical inspection and verify that parts meet print specifications.
