Opportunity Overview

Our Engineering Managers need to be technical leaders and motivators who thrive in a dynamic, customer-driven, global work environment. We succeed through teamwork. Internally, we closely interact with the Systems Engineering, Hardware Engineering, Marketing and QA teams. Externally, we interact with both our Field support organization as well as with our customers directly.

The successful applicant will have direct product development experience with a significant hardware component. This key management role requires a manager to direct a team of 3 to 4 software managers and indirectly, a team of ~50 to 70 software engineers. The team is responsible for the design, implementation, testing, and delivery of software for the Storage Test line of products.

Organizing, developing, and directing the efforts of the software development team
Responsibility for delivering the software content for all Integrated Systems Test division product deliveries
Enhancement of the software processes to achieve continuously improving quality, efficiency, and predictability
Representation of the software organization to other functional groups and to executive management
Team morale, skill development and coaching
Along with other management team members, help develop the strategic and product direction for the organization
Build/maintain relationship between the Software and Marketing organizations
Work within the Product Line Architecture teams to help shape our product roadmap
Set and monitor goals for the teams
Facilitate the creation of solid project plans that have a very high probability of successfully meeting the core objectives of software quality, time to market, and cost. Identify and manage risks to the project.
Capacity planning including hiring and recruiting, resource management (people and equipment) and equipment procurement
Monitoring the day-to-day operations of the project teams to ensure core objectives are met; Identify project execution issues early, develop and execute corrective action plans if required. Escalate as necessary.
Process management and oversight; Ensure team knows and understands our processes; Monitor and ensure processes and standards are being adhered to
