About the team
The Data Compression Team at Granica is an assembly of highly skilled professionals who fuse their software engineering prowess with a deep understanding of information theory to facilitate groundbreaking advancements in data management. This dynamic group works closely with our Research Scientists and other stakeholders within the company to ensure that the complexities of state-of-the-art data compression methods are seamlessly integrated and efficiently utilized within our AI efficiency platform. They play a crucial role in productionizing innovative technologies in data compression, processing, transmission, and analytics that cater to a broad spectrum of data-intensive applications across industries.
What you’ll do
As a Data Compression Engineer, you will play a crucial role in designing, implementing, and optimizing novel algorithms for data reduction. You will work with both existing and emerging codecs, driving superior data reduction benchmarks across a broad spectrum of data types. Your role will be instrumental in crafting and evolving architectures for ingestion, processing, and surfacing data for large-scale applications. This role demands an innovative mindset, capable of solving complex data compression problems, and translating research ideas into highly efficient and scalable systems.
Who you are
Minimum Qualifications
- 5+ years of software engineering experience in a mission-critical production environment.
- A deep understanding of distributed systems, data structures, and algorithms.
- Proficiency in at least one of the following languages: Go, C++, Java, Python, Rust, or similar.
- Proven experience with data compression algorithms such as LZ-based, Multi-Layer Perceptron, and Convolutional Neural Networks.
- Demonstrable experience in designing and implementing distributed systems.
- Previous experience working with Amazon S3, Google Cloud Storage, or similar distributed storage systems.
- Excellent communication skills, a collaborative mindset, and deep respect for the power of teamwork.
- An inherent curiosity and a passion for learning and problem-solving, with the ability to navigate ambiguous situations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Deep understanding of data compression algorithms, including performance trade-offs of lossless and lossy techniques
- Understanding of immersive data compression and processing, including point cloud, light field, etc.
Pay And Benefits
The base salary for this role is between $120,000 to $200,000. For sales positions at Granica, the salary range mentioned encompasses the On Target Earnings ("OTE") range specific to each role. This means that the range covers both the target for sales commissions or bonuses, as well as the annual base salary for the role. It is important to note that this salary range applies to various career levels within Granica and will be further refined during the interview phase, taking into account factors such as the candidate's experience, qualifications, and location. In addition to base salary, this role will receive a competitive equity compensation package.
