What You’ll Do

Semiconductor Packaging Layout Design Engineers provide an advanced package design, various other electronic components, and/or completed units. Mission of the Packaging Solutions Center is to find package solutions beyond Silicon to make next performance systems considering power and cost and to tackle the difficult and hugely innovative task with the industry, focusing on Advanced Packages such as 2.5D, 3D, and 3.5D.

Our Customers create products that change the world! In order to power those breakthroughs, they need cost-effective chip solutions tailor made for their products.  Samsung’s turnkey packaging services delver precision at every stage of the chipmaking process – from innovative fabrication and packaging to extensive PSI Testing.  In this role, you will own and drive sophisticated advanced package layout design for new generation products. 

Location: Onsite at our San Jose headquarters 5 days a week

Reports to: VP of Packaging

• Responsible for the electrical design of electronic packages.
• Responsible for the advanced packaging design flow set-up, and design tool bring-up.
• Performs custom physical design and design flow development, APR tools, and multi-chip design validation.
• Design and develop a package and interconnect methods in the areas of SiP/modules, wafer level, and multi-chip module.
• Complete other responsibilities as assigned.

What You Bring

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related fields and more than 5+ years of advanced package design or Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or related fields and more than 3+ years of advanced packaging Design experience.
• Strong technical background in design and electrical analysis.
• Understand packaging technology and product.
• Understand the interaction of Silicon Chip, Package, and Board.
• Expert in package design tools: Cadence Allegro platform tools (PCB Editor, Advanced Package Designer, APD/SiP), and/or Siemens Xpedition platform tools (XPD/XSI/XLM).
• Experience and knowledge of assembly, electrical simulation, process, test, and characterization techniques would be an added advantage.

Within the base pay range, individual rates depend on a number of factors—including the role’s function and location as well as the individual’s knowledge, skills, experience, education and training. This is part of our comprehensive compensation package with annual bonus eligibility and generous benefits to help you live life well.

 

Base Pay Range$82,096—$188,800 USD
