Position Summary:

The Research Computing Assistant supports the day-to-day computing needs of an AI research lab. This role assists with maintaining the lab’s computing environment and research software tools. The position works closely with faculty, graduate students, and collaborators to help ensure that lab systems run smoothly and that new students can quickly begin productive research work. The Research Computing Assistant will assist with managing software environments, troubleshooting technical issues, and supporting the development and testing of research prototypes. The position also plays an important role in onboarding new students and promoting best practices for using shared lab computing resources.  This position is well suited for a recent graduate in computer science or a related field who is interested in gaining experience supporting research projects in computer vision, machine learning, and AI. Performs other duties as assigned. 

Essential Functions of Position:

• Assist with the operation and maintenance of the lab’s computing resources, including workstations, shared servers, and storage systems.

• Help install and maintain research software environments.

 • Assist researchers with setting up computing environments for experiments and projects.
