Job Summary
The salary range for this position is $450,000 to $516,000 annually. Actual compensation will be determined during the selection process and is based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to relevant experience, education, and internal equity.At Mass General Brigham, we believe in recognizing and rewarding the unique value each team member brings to our organization. Qualifications
Position Summary
Salem Hospital, a member of Mass General Brigham (MGB), is seeking a Board Certified/Board Eligible Gastroenterologist with advanced expertise in Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) and Gastrointestinal Motility to join our growing, multidisciplinary Gastroenterology team. This physician will provide comprehensive inpatient and outpatient gastroenterology care while expanding advanced therapeutic endoscopy and motility services for patients throughout Boston's North Shore.
The successful candidate will join a collaborative team dedicated to delivering exceptional, evidence-based care in a community hospital setting with the clinical resources, academic collaboration, and innovation of the Mass General Brigham system. Salem Hospital currently offers advanced endoscopic services including ERCP, EUS, and esophageal motility testing, creating an excellent opportunity to further develop these specialized programs.
Primary Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive outpatient and inpatient gastroenterology consultation and management.
- Perform diagnostic and therapeutic upper endoscopy and colonoscopy.
- Independently perform advanced biliary and pancreatic endoscopy, including ERCP.
- Evaluate and manage patients with complex pancreaticobiliary disorders.
- Diagnose and treat patients with gastrointestinal motility disorders, including esophageal and gastrointestinal dysmotility.
- Interpret and perform GI motility testing, including:
- Esophageal manometry
- Ambulatory pH and impedance testing
- Additional motility studies as available
- Collaborate with colorectal surgery, general surgery, oncology, radiology, pathology, nutrition, speech pathology, and primary care providers.
- Participate in quality improvement, patient safety initiatives, and program development.
- Contribute to the continued growth of advanced endoscopy and GI motility services across the North Shore.
- Participate in shared call responsibilities with the gastroenterology team.
- Maintain accurate documentation within the electronic medical record.
- Support educational initiatives for residents, advanced practice providers, nursing staff, and medical students when applicable.
Qualifications
Required
- MD or DO degree from an accredited institution.
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Gastroenterology.
- Completion of an ACGME-accredited Gastroenterology Fellowship.
- Eligible for unrestricted Massachusetts medical licensure.
- DEA certification.
- Eligible for medical staff appointment and hospital privileges.
- Demonstrated expertise in diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy.
Preferred
- Advanced Endoscopy Fellowship or equivalent advanced ERCP experience.
- Demonstrated proficiency in:
- ERCP
- Biliary stone extraction
- Biliary and pancreatic stent placement
