About the team

We’re looking for talented web developers and software engineers to work with us on building the next generation of HubSpot CMS. 

Today, our SaaS CMS is used by 70,000+ sites, and we’re looking to significantly grow that - think 10x or more - over the next several years. The HubSpot CMS has been built with marketers and content creators in mind - key features of the system include WYSIWYG in-context content editing, a module framework that enables developers to build tools non-technical marketers and content creators can use to create beautiful pages, and tight integration with the HubSpot CRM for personalization and reporting.

To 10x our growth, we want to build a system that’s as pleasant for CMS developers to use as it is for marketers and looks toward the future of web development, and we’re looking for developers with experience and opinions about building a fantastic CMS.

We want folks who are excited about the answers to questions like: What does web development look like in 2024? How can we bring modern frameworks like React and server-side JavaScript rendering to developers used to working with Wordpress and Drupal? What does great design for a CMS look like? How can we combine design freedom for developers with WYSIWYG do-it-yourself functionality for marketers? What is the easiest way to switch CMS platforms?

Like most CMSs, the HubSpot CMS comes with a bunch of built-in themes and also supports themes built by third party developers. You will be responsible for building the default assets as well as creating best practices and boilerplates for other developers to model their CMS assets on.

This means that software engineers on the Content Assets team have huge leverage - not only are you creating templates and apps that’ll be used by thousands of customers, but you’ll be creating materials to help our third party developers grow their businesses as they enable hundreds of thousands of people to bring their website visions to life.

What we’re looking for

• Proficient in writing JavaScript, CSS, HTML, React, and TypeScript to develop web applications
• Demonstrated expertise in designing and implementing design systems for web projects
• Knowledgeable about ensuring accessibility, performance, and SEO optimization in web development
• Experience in building and enhancing open-source or enterprise CMS platforms
• Dedicated to creating an exceptional developer experience throughout the web development process
• Strong opinions on the elements that contribute to an exceptional website
• Thrilled to collaborate with a highly skilled, motivated, and humble team

Cash compensation range: 157600-236400 USD Annually

The cash compensation above includes base salary, on-target commission for employees in eligible roles, and annual bonus targets under HubSpot’s bonus plan for eligible roles. In addition to cash compensation, some roles are eligible to participate in HubSpot’s equity plan to receive restricted stock units (RSUs). Some roles may also be eligible for overtime pay. Individual compensation packages are based on a few different factors unique to each candidate, including their skills, experience, qualifications and other job-related reasons.
