Pool Gatekeeper (Summer Seasonal, Full-Time)

The Gatekeeper at the YMCA of Central MA is welcoming and genuine in the performance of their tasks. The main function of this position is managing admittance into City of Worcester beaches and pool.

Essential Functions:

• Providing excellent customer service to patrons by greeting and assisting them in a friendly manner
• Maintaining cleanliness and orderliness of the aquatic area by collecting and disposing of trash as well as organizing equipment during downtime
• Ensuring the safety of patrons by enforcing beach rules and regulations, monitoring water conditions, and reporting any incidents or emergencies to their supervisor
• Assisting in an emergency; be prepared to call for help if any issues arise
• Clearly communicate facility policies to patrons
• Answer any questions visitors may have about the rules
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• Must be 17 years or older
• Prior experience in customer service or the hospitality industry preferred
• Strong communication skills and ability to work well in a team environment
• Ability to maintain composure and remain professional during high-stress situations
• Physical stamina and ability to work in outdoor environments for extended periods
• Willingness to work flexible hours including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays
• Must have the ability to stay alert to potential safety and security problems
•  Must be able to lift and carry up to 20 pounds
• Must be able to work outside for extended periods of time

Job Type: Summer Seasonal, Full-Time

Schedule: Early mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays. Typically 40 hours per week. 

Pay: $17.00 per hour. Plus, access to YMCA facilities for all YMCA employees, Employee Assistance Program, and Sick Leave.
