Job Description

Under direct supervision, this position coordinates dock activities and, as time allows, helps dock operation and housekeeping.  This position will have input on the receipt and shipment of all materials including supplies as it pertains to the warehouse (location, storage, etc.) and will have regular contact with the internal logistics team and external freight carriers as they enter our facility

Coordinate and direct the daily activity of all the forklift drivers and dock employees

Coordinate all outbound and inbound loads as needed with manager oversight

Answer receiving door and coordinate / direct transporter on dock door for unload:

  • chock trailers, verify seal numbers on trailers
  • complete paperwork (witness sign, wise number attached, etc),

Release transporter when unloading or loading is completed.

Relay issues to logistics team regarding any unscheduled deliveries.

Inform logistics team when loads are ready to ship or when loads arrive.

Assist with other dock operations and housekeeping

Perform other reasonably related tasks as assigned by management

Qualifications

Required:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Three or more months of plant/warehouse experience

Preferred:

  • Ability to operate equipment (fork trucks/forklifts) and technical ability to operate a hand cart/2-wheel dolly and pallet jack.
  •  Willingness and ability to wear company provided personal protection equipment including eye protection, foot protection, hard hat, Tyvek coveralls and respirator if needed
  •  Ability to observe safety and security procedures; determines appropriate action beyond guidelines; Reports potentially unsafe conditions; use equipment and materials properly.
  • Ability to present ideas in a clear, concise, organized and diplomatic manner; listen to others to respond effectively to ideas and questions.
  • Ability to identify and understand employee and customer needs  
  • Proactively searches for ways to increase customer satisfaction. 
  • Ability to persist with a specific course of action. 
  • Ability to work with and for others in a team environment, providing direction at times. 
  • Ability to take and follow directions from others. 
  • Experience with computer software applications, including OMS and shipping software.
