Description

Schedule: Part-time, Mondays thru Thursdays 3:00 PM to 5:30 PM.


Merritt Academy is seeking an enthusiastic and creative Afterschool Activities Instructor to lead engaging and dynamic extracurricular clubs for students in Preschool through 8th grade. Each semester and through the summer, you will guide students through exciting activities that could include art, LEGO building, cooking, cheer, STEM, robotics, and more!

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and supervise afterschool clubs with enthusiasm, patience, and creativity.
  • Create a fun, safe, and engaging environment for students.
  • Plan and organize activities that align with the theme of each club.
  • Foster students' curiosity and encourage participation.
  • Communicate effectively with parents, staff, and students.
  • Maintain a positive and professional attitude while managing groups of children.
  • Ensure students follow safety rules and school guidelines.


Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Must love working with kids and have experience leading groups of children.
  • High school diploma preferred.
  • Prior experience in teaching, coaching, childcare, or youth programs preferred.
  • Ability to manage a group of students with patience, energy, and creativity.
  • Strong communication and classroom management skills.
  • Ability to plan and execute fun, hands-on activities.
  • Must be physically able to lift and carry a minimum of 45 pounds, engage in physical activity with children, and work indoors or outdoors.
  • Must be able to constantly move and interact with the children to provide stimulation and develop relationships.
  • Must be able to alternate often between sitting and standing.
  • Must be able to maintain sight and sound of the children at all times.
  • CPR and First Aid certified or willingness to obtain.
  • Must be able to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
  • Pass pre-employment screenings and trainings as required.
