Not RequiredCollins Aerospace, a leader in Generator and Emergency Power Test Equipment, is seeking an innovative and skilled Electrical Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for developing cutting-edge test equipment and setups for the development and production of aircraft power generation components. Our Test Equipment group plays a critical role in supporting both test facilities and programs through every phase of the lifecycle—from development to production. This is an exciting opportunity to take on new challenges as Collins Aerospace continues to shape the future of aircraft electric power systems.
The ideal candidate will be a strong analytical thinker with a proven ability to design, build, and validate test setups. Experience with instrumentation, data recording, and the design of electrical systems and harnesses is essential. As part of a dynamic, multi-disciplinary team, you will support our generator test labs and wind tunnels by developing and enhancing Test Equipment, as well as maintaining and upgrading Production Test Equipment. We are looking for a creative, forward-thinking engineer who is passionate about pushing the boundaries of technology and eager to help drive the next generation of test equipment innovation.
What You Will Do
Evaluate new product test specifications and determine the equipment requirements needed to meet testing needs.
Analyze requirements for unit testing interfaces and electrical circuits to ensure proper functionality.
Design harnessing for test equipment and test setups to support accurate and efficient testing.
Incorporate instrumentation into test setups, including monitoring for flows, pressures, load, torque, airspeed, vibration, and temperature.
Design and coordinate the build, checkout, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of electrical systems in collaboration with the hourly workforce.
Create electrical schematics to document designs and ensure clear communication across teams.
Create project estimates and work within budget constraints for time and cost to meet project goals.
Provide mentoring to new or early career peers.
Drive Process Standardization and document it with Standard Work
Drive Non-Recurring Expense (NRE) reduction efforts in Test Engineering processes
Drive AutoCad-E as the common platform for Electrical Designs
Qualifications You Must Have
Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience
Qualifications We Prefer
5+ years of electrical design and integration experience
Experience working with test operators to modify and support test equipment.
Experience preparing and presenting analysis, reports, test results, and other contract deliverables related to analyses performed
Demonstrated ability to manage and execute both small and large engineering projects.
Hands-on experience designing, building, integrating, and troubleshooting electrical test equipment and test systems.
Ability to understand or support LabView software development is a plus
Strong written and verbal communication skills
