Job Description
Reporting to the Senior Accounting Manager, the Senior Staff Accountant is responsible for financial accounting and reporting activities. The ideal candidate will have a thorough understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), accounting policies and controls, attention to detail, the ability to complete tasks with a high level of accuracy, and consistently meet deadlines.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for the accurate and timely preparation of journal entries and monthly balance sheet account reconciliations.
- Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close process.
- Perform analytical review of financial results and understand factors driving variances.
- Identify, and implement improvement opportunities through automation and/or efficiency initiatives.
- Support SOX compliance efforts and assist in improvement of control procedures.
- Assist in the development of documented process narratives.
- Assist with internal and external audits.
- Special projects as needed.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Strong understanding of accounting theory and GAAP.
- Ability to grow into a position of higher responsibility.
- Strong analytic, organization, and problem- solving skills which allows for strategic data interpretation versus strictly reporting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite with advanced level skills in Excel., particularly with Excel. NetSuite experience a plus.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal; experience in effectively communicating key information.
- Flexibility and adaptability; teamwork and collaboration a must
Qualifications
MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance required.
- Four years of progressive accounting experience.
- CPA or CPA eligible (preferred)
