Summary:

The Manager, Student Financial Services (SFS) will be an integral part of Relay’s financial aid team and support the Director, Student Financial Services. The Manager will operationalize both the administrative and the support mechanisms toward the successful implementation of the federal aid process in alignment with the vision set by the Director, SFS. This role will support up to 1,500 newly enrolled students by calculating, awarding, and returning federal aid on a weekly-basis. This role would report to the Director of SFS and must demonstrate the ability to complete projects both independently and in a team-based environment with tight deadlines. Additionally, this individual must be able to demonstrate empathy, critical thinking, and have strong verbal and written interpersonal communication skills.
Role’s Contributions (Duties and Responsibilities):
The essential responsibilities of this position, while not limited to the following, will include:
Systems & Processes (60%)
- Works with the SFS team to evaluate departmental processes to ensure efficiency and compliance, and identifies gaps and opportunities for improvement while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and institutional regulations.
- Conducts testing for system patches, updates, and new releases.
- With support from other Managers, executes on changes to all system-related operations of SFS, including but not limited to file exchanges between SFS, Relay’s bursar, and federal and state departments.
- Works with other members of the Relay community to ensure the successful implementation of new technologies and related systems.
- Configures, tests, and documents processes for Anthology Student System
- Trains team members in Anthology Student Systems and federal and institutional student aid processes
Awards, Audits & Reporting (30%)
- Performs reviews of all financial aid offers and disbursements.
- Reviews packaging and repackaging of aid, managing student changes in status and determining student funding eligibility.
- Packages and awards financial aid for all students when necessary.
- Configures and audits the financial aid systems to ensure efficiency and effectiveness of SFS systems.
- Administers and conducts monthly, term, and yearly reconciliation of all federal financial aid programs such as Direct Loans and TEACH Grants.
- Develops reports to meet the data needs of the institution.
Policies & Compliance (10%)
- Ensures compliance with applicable federal, state, and other financial aid program regulations and institutional policies.
- Maintains knowledge of financial aid compliance and procedural requirements.
- Develops a deep understanding of and serves as the subject matter expert in all SFS policies regarding financial aid requirements, in order to support graduate students and faculty in navigating the Relay student experience.
- Supports SFS team with special projects, as necessary.
Performs other related duties as required and assigned.
