In the Asset Management Engineer role, you will have an opportunity to work alongside a dynamic team of industry professionals across the Critical Environments (CE) spectrum within Microsoft’s 24x7x365 mission-critical datacenters (DCs). You will be serving as a mission critical infrastructure subject-matter-expert with accountabilities that include, but are not limited to, development, maintenance, and delivery of global programs. Your primary focus will be to drive the safe, secure, and reliable maintenance and operation of our critical infrastructure equipment, ultimately driving maintenance strategies that are in alignment with Reliability Centered Maintenance practices that ensure the business can support the unprecedented growth demand. You will monitor the execution of these programs and identify opportunities for continuous improvements. You will be expected to leverage your industry experience along with knowledge from industry governing bodies in developing these programs. You will be expected to document and implement best practices and learnings from the field as they apply to Microsoft’s global mission critical infrastructure.

  • This role is located either in one or all hub locations - Atlanta, GA, Washington, D.C., Redmond, WA, San Antonio, TX or Phoenix, AZ. 
  • Relocation support will be provided, and successful candidates must ​relocate or reside within 50 miles of the hub office location. 
  • This role is eligible for hybrid or remote work, up to 100%. 

Responsibilities

Asset Management: 

  • Optimize maintenance and replacement strategies to minimize the total cost of ownership of critical assets. 
  • Responsible for maintaining a current and accurate database of critical CE assets. 
  • Responsible for setting database field requirements for owned equipment types. 
  • Regular evaluation and reporting of condition and health of CE assets. 
  • Develop a framework and identify key performance indicators that determine the risk profiles for CE Assets and DCs, considering factors such as equipment age, asset work order efficiency, reliability trends, impact of failure, datacenter (DC) design, supply chain constraints, etc. 
  • Work with partner teams and field operations to deliver risk mitigation plans for identified high risk areas. 
  • Analyze costs associated with the acquisition, operation, maintenance, and disposal of assets along with forecasting large scale equipment refresh needs/end of life planning. 
  • Tracking the performance of assets to ensure they meet operational requirements.
