Project Coordinator (Full-Time)

Job Summary: The NYU Program of Nutrition at Steinhardt and the Institute of Human Development and Social Change (IHDSC) are seeking a Project Coordinator to support the OPT-FRESH study, working closely with Dr. Angela Trude. The Project Coordinator will manage day-to-day project activities, including participant recruitment and retention, scheduling, data collection, and data processing. The role also includes supervising and training at least 4 graduate research assistants and various student voluneers, ensuring compliance with IRB requirements, and facilitating communication among investigators, consultants, and staff. This position provides hands-on experience in community-engaged research focused on nutrition equity and public health.

Project Overview: OPT-FRESh is a 5-year NIH-funded intervention trial addressing gaps in healthy food access among low-income families. Using the multiphase optimization strategy (MOST), the study tests three intervention components designed to reduce barriers to online healthy food purchases: 1) weekly text messages to improve trust in online grocery services; 2) weekly match of up to $10 as a financial incentive for purchasing FVL online; and 3) weekly instant shoppable grocery lists of tailored meal suggestions using SNAP-Ed recipes. OPT-FRESH will provide a unique opportunity to identify effective, scalable, and efficient strategies that could be used to reach the over 44 million people in the U.S., including six million children, experiencing food insecurity, thus addressing important social determinants of health that explain health disparities related to cardiovascular disease. 

Specific Responsibilties:

1. Coordinate and manage day-to-day project activities, ensuring that timelines and milestones are met. 
2. Assist in the development and implementation of the intervention components. 
3. Facilitate communication and collaboration between investigators, community organizations, and external evaluators. 
4. Organize and support regular meetings, workshops, and events related to the project. 
5. Support data collection, analysis, and reporting for project assessments, including coordinating surveys and interviews. 
6. Monitor and track the progress of the project, including managing gift cards, recruitment checklists and other tracking tolls. 
7. Prepare and disseminate project-related materials, reports, and presentations for stakeholders and funders. 
8. Assist with preparing proposals for future funding and disseminating findings to broader academic and public audiences. 
9. Contribute to presentations, reflection summaries, and policy brief content.

Working Conditions

In-person: meetings, recruitment, and data collection will be in-person. Meetings will be conducted in the NYU Washington Square Campus, when the Project Coordinator will have a designated work-desk and computer. Recruitment and data collection will occur in the Bronx. Public transportation costs related to recruitment and data collection are reimbursed.

Time Frame

One-year position with potential renewal for up to five years. 

In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $55,000-$70,000. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) the specific grant funding and the terms of the research grant when extending an offer. 

Per NYU's remote-work policy, this position is expected to be completely in-person.

The Project Coordinator will be responsibile for supervising at least 4 graduate student researchers and various student volunteers. 

Qualifications

Qualifications and Competencies:

1. Bachelor's Degree required, or equivalent combination of education and related experience in food policy, nutrition, food insecurity, health equity, and/or community-based research or related field.
2. 1-3 years of relevant experience, required. 
3. Bilingual (able to read, write and speak Spanish) preferred. 
4. Extensive experience with community-based programs, interventions, and engagement and related grant-funded program management, preferred. 
5. Self-starter and action-oriented to implement grant related aims and milestones on a timely basis, preferred. 
6. Available for local travel to New York City.
7. Strong interpersonal skills, attention to detail, organized, and a team-player. 
8. Experience working directly in community settings. 
9. Familiarity with basic quantitative data is preferred; experience conducting qualitative research is a plus.
