General Schedule

Position typically works Monday-Friday from 8am-5pm at UCO's main campus in Edmond, Oklahoma.

Position Overview

The Program Coordinator will manage the activities of the Higher Education Prevention Service (HEPS) grant to reduce opioid and stimulant misuse, and suicide at the University of Central Oklahoma. This position is grant funded through a subcontract with the Oklahoma Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services (ODMHSAS). This position will report to the Assistant Director of Health Promotion.

This is a grant funded position, and this position will only exist as long as, the University has this, contract with ODMHSAS.

Job Duties

  • Interact with staff, leaders, and community members to form a coalition on campus to meet monthly.
  • Interact with staff, leaders, and community members to participate in the coalition with other grant partners (colleges who are also working on this grant in Oklahoma) to meet monthly.
  • Develop impactful and engaging substance prevention and misuse plans, implement work plans on campus with passion and enthusiasm, and conduct needs assessments and surveys as needed.
  • Review existing data or collect new data to understand gaps in knowledge and services across campus.
  • Conduct engaging substance misuse trainings, delivers dynamic campus presentations and events, provides technical assistance and attends local, regional, and statewide grant-related meetings as required.
  • Follow the guidelines of the Strategic Prevention Framework Model to set goals and outcomes for the semester.
  • Provide and maintain accurate data and records on campus activities, outreach efforts, collaborations, in-person and online trainings (for example using MS Teams, Zoom, or other video meeting platforms), and networking meetings, which is submitted to ODMSHAS via an online portal to complete both monthly reports and benchmark reports on a monthly basis.
  • Develop informative and interesting social media posts to promote the program at UCO and the funder.
  • Monitor the budget to ensure all activities that are being funded meet grant requirements and stay within the limits of the funds available.
  • Create, maintain, and update assigned program schedules for contract deliverables and key events.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Scope & Impact: This position is an entry level professional position, with actions that may have a measurable impact on substance misuse on the UCO campus and on the campuses of our grant partners.

Communication & Interaction: Routinely answers questions and provides information and data requested by leadership within or outside of the UCO community and grant partners. Questions that require interpretation or are not easily resolved are referred to the Supervisor.

Problem Solving & Judgement: Able to problem solve and find solutions to complex issues that may arise with the support of the UCO team and ODMSHAS grant representative.
